Volunteering
We need you! We are looking for enthusiastic people to come and join our wonderful team and enhance the Future Hope experience for our children. Your Gap Year, at whatever age, can be the most exciting, rewarding and different time or it can be a bit of a damp squib. Make yours totally memorable by embracing a completely different world and, in turn, be embraced into a different culture and really change your life.
- You need to be 18 or over
- If you are under 21 we can only accept you if you come with a buddy (you can of course be a couple)
- Upper age limit 75 (please be honest about any medical issues)
- You need to have a current Police check
- We require two references from people who have known you for more than three years
- We require a £30 deposit when you apply, this will be refunded should we not think you are suitable
- You need to set up a Standing Order for £500 p.m. for the duration of your stay. This covers the cost of your accommodation and food and includes a small donation to the charity
- You need to have both health and personal insurance
- You need to be quite independent
- You need to understand that Vipingo is quite a small local village and there are only basic shops; there are however some very good supermarkets 45 minutes away
- The local means of transport is by matatu (small public bus) or boda-boda (private motor cycle)
- We need you to stay for at least three months and a maximum of six
- Secure accommodation, with running water and electricity within our walled grounds (to be completed 2022 Covid permitting)
- A local SIM card, come with an unlocked phone & charger
- A bicycle
- A ‘buddy’ who is local member of staff and your personal mentor
- A timetable
- A welcome pack
- Conservation by becoming involved in our local turtle project
- Means to explore your creativity, if you are so inclined
- TOTAL IMMERSION IN THE SCHOOL & VIPINGO LIFE
