Schools & Pen-Pals
Is your school looking for a really worthwhile project in which to get involved?
- One that sends you regular updates?
- One that twins UK children with their Kenyan counterpart based on age, interests and gender?
- One that encourages an exchange of ideas that increases understanding between the two cultures.
...then look no further!
The Future Hope Montessori School operates a very successful 'Pen-pal' scheme that does just that! The idea is that the UK children sponsor, through a Standing Order for a minimum of £10.00 per month, which covers the cost of the food, up to £20 per month which covers all the expenses of their Future Hope counterpart.
In return our Goodwill Ambassador in charge of Pen-pals, Fiona Spurling, is happy to come and make a presentation to your school, explain about what we do and how the children, whilst from wildly differing backgrounds are very alike in many ways and how rewarding the exchange can be. Visit our contact page if you wish to contact her.
Currently we have the following schools participating in the scheme:
Hilden Grange – Tonbridge, Kent; Marlborough House School – Hawkhurst, Kent; Rolvenden Primary School – Rolvenden, Kent - Dunsford Primary, Dunsford, Devon; Leigh Primary, Leigh, Kent;
Of course, you don't have to do it through your school! If you have a child or grandchild aged between 3-13+ who would like a Pen-pal, then we would love to hear from you. Simply download the Pen-pal brochure, see the panel on this page or from the page (right) or via the main menu, and we'll do the rest!
